About Chris

3rd GENERATION BEXAR COUNTY RESIDENT
BUSINESS OWNER, NOT BUSINESS‑OWNED
RUNNING FOR YOU & YOUR FAMILY

Chris is a third-generation Bexar County native, local business owner and job creator, husband, and proud father who firmly believes that we get the government we tolerate…and he’s had about all he can take.

Growing up in San Antonio, Chris was greatly influenced by his grandfather Joe who came to America as an immigrant from Tampico Mexico and was tragically orphaned soon after. Through grit, hard work, sacrifice, love of his new country, and determination his grandfather was able to achieve the American Dream.

After 30 years of service at Kelly AFB, which included service in Korea, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, his Grandpa Joe honorably retired. However, not being one to sit at home Joe embarked on a second career, serving as a federal Grand Jury Bailiff for 21 years.

Spending large parts of his childhood with his grandpa, Chris learned that no matter who you are or where you are from there is always something greater to be achieved in life, so long as you’re willing to work for it.

Chris grew up attending area schools, completing high school at Antonian College Prep, a Catholic high school. After graduation, he attended and completed his studies at Texas A&M where he met his future wife Megan. The two married in 2014 and welcomed their first son, Christopher T. Schuchardt II, in 2022.

After beginning his professional career in banking and a stint in oil and gas, Chris set out to make his own way at the age of 26, starting a trucking and materials business. In less than a decade, Chris has grown his business to employ over 55 full-time and contract workers and has contributed to some of the largest private and public projects in Bexar County. Chris believes in the approach of taking care of your customers and your people first, and yourself second.

While active in Republican circles and donating to Republican candidates and causes, Chris had never considered public service. However, after learning that the San Antonio City Council voted in Spring 2023 to place Prop A, the insane “justice” charter amendment, on the ballot, Chris felt compelled to get off the sidelines and fight to save the city from these radical pro-abortion, pro-drug, and anti-police policies.

Chris ultimately decided to run for Mayor of San Antonio with an express mission of canvassing every corner of the city to get out the vote against Prop A. After putting in over $70,000 of his own money, Chris quickly became a force to reckon with and his efforts caused Mayor Ron Nirenberg to pivot from voting to place Prop A on the May ballot to finally coming out against the measure.

Chris finished second in a very crowded field. However, victory was achieved as Prop A went down in a historic defeat.

Chris Schuchardt is now running to serve you and your family as the next Republican County Commissioner representing Precinct 3. As the lone Republican on the Commissioners Court, we need a proven fighter like Chris, not a go-along-to-get-along rubber stamp for the Democrat majority’s agenda.
